Stuart
Sheldon Bio Stuart
Sheldon began reading dictionaries for pleasure and began writing
poems as a child. A
self taught artist, Stuart began to combine his poetry with painting
to make it more engaging, “because 8-1/2”x11” Times New Roman
just wasn’t conveying the joy and pain, sunshine and rain”. In
an interview, Stuart explained that his painting and collage work
involves text, often scratched into wet paint with a chopstick, with
the intention of remaining loose and keeping a childlike rawness
where feeling supersedes thinking.
Early
on, Stuart spent five years on Wall Street as a vice-president of
investments but opted out of finance for the MFA program in Film at
University of Miami where his formal artistic journey began. At VeloNews
Magazine Stuart spent seven years as an ad executive, writer,
and eventually, a publisher. It was there his visual expression
flourished, particularly as writer and director of commercials and
the TV documentary, "Inside Cycling ’98" for the Outdoor
Life Network. In 2000 he launched Streaming Media Magazine
which won Folio's illustrious 2001 Ozzie award for Best
Overall Design. |
